Frequently Asked Questions

What types of portraits do you accept?

I create original watercolor portraits of children, families, and beloved pets. Each portrait is individually hand-painted and designed as a finished heirloom artwork.

Are commissioned portraits framed?

Yes. All commissioned portraits are professionally framed with custom archival matting, acid-free backing, and gallery wire. Each piece arrives fully assembled and ready to hang.

What materials do you use?

All portraits are painted on museum-quality Arches watercolor paper using professional, lightfast pigments selected for their permanence and longevity. Only archival materials are used in the finishing and framing process.

What sizes are available?

Commissioned heirloom portraits are available in the following framed sizes:

  • 8×10

  • 11×14

  • 16×20

  • 18×24 (Signature size)

Availability may vary based on subject matter and studio schedule.

What is the investment for a commissioned portrait?

Investment for fully framed heirloom portraits begins at $850. Final pricing varies based on size, number of subjects, and overall complexity of the composition.

How long does a commission take?

Most portraits are completed within 6–10 weeks, depending on size, complexity, and current studio schedule. Larger or narrative works may require additional time.

What is required to reserve a commission?

A 60% non-refundable commission reservation is required to secure a place in the studio schedule and begin work. The remaining balance is due prior to final framing and delivery.

Is the commission reservation refundable?

Because each portrait is custom created and professionally finished, commission reservations are non-refundable once work has begun.

Can commissioned portraits be given as gifts?

Yes. Heirloom portraits make meaningful and lasting gifts. Gift timing and presentation can be discussed during the initial consultation.

How many commissions do you accept each year?

To maintain the highest level of craftsmanship and personal attention, only a limited number of heirloom commissions are accepted annually.

How do I begin a commission?

To inquire about availability, please contact me via the commission inquiry form. I would be honored to discuss your vision and next steps.

An original portrait is more than a likeness — it is a record of love, memory, and presence, created to endure for generations.
